Happy New Year everyone. At this time of year, you’ll hear many passengers wishing you a happy new year. You can also do the same for them.

Bonne=good

Année (f)=year

Bonne Année=Happy New Year

If someone wishes you “bonne année”, you can respond “thanks, you too” “merci, vous aussi”.

Other common holiday greetings that you'll hear include “Merry Christmas” “Joyeux Noël” and “Happy Holidays” “Joyeuses Fêtes”.

Noël (m)=Christmas

Fêtes (f, pl)=Holidays

Joyeux/Joyeuses=Happy/joyful/merry
